On the 21 April 2015, Scotland House in Brussels hosted a large crowd of stakeholders for the launch of the VOLANTE Roadmap. The Roadmap is an innovative tool for land resource management and comes at a critical moment given the upcoming Communication on ‘Land as a Resource’ by the European Commission.
VOLANTE was funded by the FP7 Research and Innovation programme of the European Union. The “Roadmap for Future Land Resources Management” presented during the event makes it possible for European policy-makers to gain a holistic view of possible land management policies.
The VOLANTE research process involved a large number of key stakeholders from business, policy and civil society, who developed a set of visions on future land use. Speaking on the panel during the launch, the stakeholders actively discussed the roadmap and its implications for Europe. They outlined the relevance of the VOLANTE process as a tool for value- and evidence-based policy debates at different levels in Europe, from the local, regional to the national and EU level.
Prospex’s role was to design and run processes that allow scientists and stakeholders to identify the challenges, needs and constraints regarding land resource management options through society participation.
