On May 5- 6, 2014 Vienna was host to the Trade-off Workshop of VOLANTE, the EU-funded scientific project that aims at developing a new European land management paradigm. Nineteen carefully selected stakeholders from all over Europe reviewed model results on how to reach future visions for land transition in Europe, and explored policy options to turn these visions into reality.
The participants had very diverse backgrounds (in agriculture, nature conservation, architecture or water management), which rendered their shared expertise particularly valuable to the project and all participants. Through their active participation and valuable feedback on visions, pathways and trade-offs, they contributed significantly to the advancement of the project.
In the extensive VOLANTE project, Prospex is responsible for stakeholder mapping, as well as the organisation, coordination, design and professional facilitation of a series of stakeholder workshops. The final output of the project will be a roadmap informing European policy-makers and land management professionals about the critical pathways for sustainable land use. All presentations of this workshop will be available online on the project website.
