The third European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA 2017) took place in Glasgow, Scotland from 5 to the 9 June 2017. The theme for this edition was “Our Climate Ready Future”, bringing together over 850 participants from around the world, from businesses, industry, NGOs, local governments and communities, to leading researchers and policymakers.
For the first time, this ECCA edition featured a dedicated business programme, organised and sponsored by Prospex. On 6 June, the ECCA Business Day focused on engaging the private sector in getting climate ready, tackling topics such as the business case for climate readiness, risks, solutions, opportunities and contributions business can and should make in helping society adapt to climate change.
The highly interactive program, designed by Prospex based on a wide consultation with businesses and associations in 2016, featured excellent business and expert speakers from leading companies and organisations across the EU and beyond. Through a series of professionally facilitated high-level panel discussions, and four parallel sessions focusing on front-runner sectors (infrastructure & water; bio-economy; risk management, insurance & consulting; and health), the Business Day enabled an exchange between professionals, clients, scientists, practitioners and public officials, setting the scene for private sector involvement in climate change adaptation in the future and the next ECCA edition in Lisbon in 2019.
The entire Prospex team would like to thank all participants for joining the ECCA Business Day and engaging in the rich and stimulating discussions.
We would very much welcome any comments or other feedback on the ECCA Business Day, so please do not hesitate to get in touch with Stefan Haenen (Stefan.email@example.com) to do so.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and hope to continue the conversation!
