More than 500 representatives from local authorities gathered for three days in Nicosia at the 26th Congress of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR). The 2016 edition of the annual Congress was titled “A Local and Regional Vision of Europe 2030”. Local authorities from all over the world – not only Europe – deliberated on this vision in various sessions under seven major themes, ranging from “Governance and Leadership” over “Business, Technology and Innovation” to “EU integration”.
From the 20th until the 22nd of April, Prospex facilitated eight sessions at this event, including the opening and closing plenaries. The parallel sessions then covered local finance, Europe’s future architecture, green cities, decentralisation, territorial development, and the results of COP21. Our careful preparation resulted in eight different approaches to achieve the eight different outcomes set-out during the preparatory meetings with the CEMR. In our “Testimonial” section, you can read how we successfully met the discussed goals.
This conference has been a great opportunity to engage with different global stakeholders (e.g. the mayor of Johannesburg, Mr Parks Tau. See picture). The outcomes can be found, together with video and photo coverage, on the CEMR or congress website.
