The HEInnovate tool has been used by higher education institutes to assess and develop their level of innovation and entrepreneurship. It had been running for over three years now and consequently, the time was right for the institutes and other stakeholders to share their first experiences. The European Commission (DG EAC) and the Organisation for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD) therefore organised the “i3: iGNITE.iNSPIRE.iNNOVATE” event: a two day conference facilitated and moderated by Prospex.
HEInnovate covers seven different domains in which it helps the higher education institutes to assess themselves (e.g. leadership and governance, internationalisation, measuring impact…). All these topics address different pain points for various institutions. To gather an overview from the participants of these issues and the possible solutions to them, Prospex installed and facilitated different participatory processes.
The organisation of the entire event had to reflect the main idea behind the tool: thinking outside the box. Hence the interactive and original formats proposed by Prospex, such as the artistic summaries of graphic note takers or the light-hearted wrap-up session with comical contributions.
Finally, the participants were also provided with an action sheet and were continuously motivated to fill in the action points that they thought relevant. This way, we did not only identify their needs, showcase innovative solutions, and support networking, but we also encouraged all attendants not to forget about their experience during the conference and to take action once returned to their respective institution.
