Fair Taxation – Seminars 2018

With its ambitious agenda to work towards growth, boosting investments and deepening the integration of economies, the European Commission aims at meeting demands for social justice and economic growth also through fair and adequate tax coordination. Together with the European Union‘s Member States, the European Commission is working to make tax systems more transparent, more accountable and more active across the board.

The European Commission launched its fair taxation campaign with a Tax Transparency
Package in 2015. Since then, major progress has been made in increasing openness and cooperation between Member States on tax issues. Taxes play a crucial role in maintaining a strong and sustainable economy, a thriving business environment and a just social model. Tax avoidance and abuse, however, undermine the social contract between citizens and governments and jeopardise fair competition.

To foster an active exchange of knowledge to combat tax fraud and evasion, the European Commission’s Directorate General Taxation and Customs Union is organising five seminars in Latvia, Austria, France, Ireland and Italy throughout 2018. These seminars bring together national policy makers, civil society organisations, academics and business representatives, as well as members of the European institutions. Prospex is glad to support the European Commission in designing and facilitating this series of interactive and participatory events.
