What are hidden trends and developments for the future of agriculture and protected areas in Europe? The European Environment Agency asked Prospex to conduct two innovative Spotmeters – Food for Thought and Natura2morrow – for exploring these questions as input to the Ecosystem Assessment in Europe. The Spotmeter built on conducting in-depth interviews with a range of high-level personalities from diverse areas in society selected by the EEA. Interviewees included among many others Peter Brabeck-Letmathe (Chairman of Nestlé Board of Directors), Yann Arthus-Bertrand (acclaimed international photographer and film maker), Michael Braungart (Author, Cradle to Cradle), Thierry de L‘Escaille (Secretary General of the European Land Owners Association), Bart De Baere (Director of Antwerp Museum of Modern Art), Lesley Dickie (Executive Director of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria), Achim Steiner (UNEP Executive Director) and Sir Crispin Tickell (President of the British Royal Geographical Society). Using a special method of combining and analysing their very different insights led to identifying a range of strong and surprising emerging issues and trends that were overlooked by conventional methods as highly relevant input to the assessment and consequential policy-making.
